Reinstall or change your VPS OS

Want a clean slate, or a different OS? You can reinstall your VPS yourself from the panel at vps.overnight.host in a couple of minutes.

Reinstalling wipes the disk. Back up anything you want to keep first. This can't be undone.

Back up first

Copy off anything important — databases (mysqldump), config, your app files — to your own machine or object storage. A reinstall starts the disk fresh.

Reinstall / change OS

Open the panel

Log in at vps.overnight.host with the panel login from your welcome email.

Choose Reinstall

Pick the OS — Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux or Rocky (or Windows where offered).

Confirm

Set the new root/admin password and confirm. The rebuild runs automatically.

Reconnect

A few minutes later, connect with your new credentials on your dedicated port.

Switching OS family (e.g. Ubuntu → Rocky) is just a reinstall with a different image — same steps.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Does reinstalling change my IP or port?

No — your VPS keeps its IP and dedicated SSH/RDP port. Only the disk is rebuilt.

Can I switch between Linux distros?

Yes — reinstall and pick any offered image (Ubuntu, Debian, Alma, Rocky). Windows is available where listed.

I didn't back up and reinstalled — can you recover it?

Once a disk is rebuilt the old data is gone, so always back up first. If unsure, email support before you reinstall.
